Christmas appliques-Crochet stocking

Some people believe that the Dutch introduced the Christmas stocking to America. During the 16th Century, children from Holland would put their clogs by the fireplace and fill the shoes with straw for the reindeer.  They would also leave a treat for Santa.  In return 'Sinterclass' would leave treats for the children.  Later the clogs became stockings and the Saint known to everyone would become Santa Claus. 

These red Christmas stocking appliques are crochet appliques with a holly leaf and are 2 inches x 1.25 inches.  They are sew on.
