HOW TO APPLY AND CARE FOR YOUR APPLIQUES

How to apply iron on appliques using a hand iron:

  1. Set your hand iron at the hottest temperature setting that the fabric will allow.

  2. Position your applique and place a  pressing cloth over your applique.

  3. Press the iron down on the applique.  Hold it there for 30-40 seconds.  Apply as much pressure as possible and use both hands.

  4. Turn garment inside out and repeat steps 2 and 3.

  5. Let applique cool.

  6. Manufacturers recommend hand-tacking or hand-sewing applique on garment, especially appliques placed on items that are going to be washed. (see ** below)

How to apply iron on appliques using a heat-seal machine:

  1. Set your machine temperature to 375 degrees.

  2. Position your applique and place a pressing cloth over your applique.

  3. Close machine on the applique.  Press for 12-15 seconds.  This is recommended for everyday tee shirt fabric.

  4. Let applique cool.

  5. More complete instructions on using a heat seal machine.

Caution:

  1. Avoid the use of materials which cannot endure the temperatures necessary to affix appliques properly.

  2. Appliques are durable, but for best results, they should not be applied to rainwear (anything waterproof), highly elastic fabrics or nylon fabrics.

**How to Sew on your appliques:

  1. Iron your applique to your fabric.

  2. With a threaded needle matching the color of the edge of the applique or with invisible thread, come up through your foundation fabric and take a small (needle width size) bite out of the edge of your applique.

  3. Go down through the same hole you came up and then poke back up through the material about 1/8" away taking another bite out of the edge of your applique.

  4. Continue sewing your applique on until the applique is on tight.

Washing instructions For sequined and crochet appliques:

  1. For Best Results with sequined appliques  - Turn garment inside out.  Hand wash in cold water with mild soap and hang to dry.

  2. Crochet appliques can be washed on gentle cycle and tumble dried on low to medium heat. High heat may cause the appliques to shrink a little.

  3. Do not use Bleach.

Washing Instructions for iron on appliques:
